If you're traveling by car, start from Breckenridge, Colorado. Head northeast on CO-9 N for about 15 miles until you reach the intersection with I-70. Merge onto I-70 W and continue for about 12 miles. Take exit 203 for US-6 E toward Loveland Pass. Continue on US-6 E for about 8 miles, then take the exit toward Grays Peak Road. Follow Grays Peak Road until you reach the Grays Peak trailhead parking area. Note: There is a parking fee of around $10 to $20 depending on the season.
Public Transportation
For those using public transportation, take the Bustang service from Denver to Frisco. From the Frisco transfer station, you can use local shuttle services like Summit Stage to reach the Breckenridge area. Once in Breckenridge, you will need to arrange for a taxi or rideshare to drive you to the Grays Peak trailhead. Be aware that the taxi fares can vary, and it may cost around $50 to $80 for the ride depending on the distance and demand.
Hiking
Once you arrive at the Grays Peak trailhead, prepare for a hike. The trail to Grays Peak is approximately 3 miles long and is considered moderate to challenging. Ensure you have proper hiking gear and plenty of water. The trailhead starts at an elevation of about 11,000 feet and ascends to the summit at 14,278 feet, so be prepared for altitude changes.
