Car
If you're traveling by car, make your way to Mesa Verde National Park. From the town of Cortez, head east on US-160 E. Continue for approximately 10 miles until you reach the entrance of Mesa Verde National Park. After entering the park, follow the road signs for the Step House. You'll need to drive about 20 miles into the park, where you will find the designated parking area near the Step House trailhead. Note that there is an entrance fee to the park, which is currently $20 per vehicle (valid for 7 days).

Public transportation options directly to Step House are limited, but you can take a bus to Cortez. From Cortez, you’ll need to arrange a taxi or rideshare service to reach the Mesa Verde National Park entrance. Once in the park, you can drive or hike to Step House. Be sure to check with local taxi services for availability and rates. Additionally, prepare for a short hike from the parking area to the Step House itself, as the site is only accessible via a trail.
