Getting There

• Car

  If you are traveling by car, start by entering '67 River Rd, East Haddam, CT 06423' into your GPS. From major highways, such as I-95 or I-84, take the exit for CT-9 North towards Middletown. Continue on CT-9 North and take exit 7 for CT-66 East towards East Haddam. Follow CT-66 East until it merges with CT-149. Continue on CT-149, then turn left onto River Road (CT-82). Gillette Castle State Park will be on your right after approximately 2 miles. There is a parking fee of $10 per vehicle on weekends and holidays, while parking is free on weekdays.

• Public Transportation

  For public transportation, take a train to the Old Saybrook station via Amtrak or Shore Line East. From Old Saybrook, you can catch a local bus (Middletown Area Transit) towards East Haddam, but please check the schedule as bus service may be limited. After arriving in East Haddam, you will need to use a taxi or rideshare service to cover the last 5 miles to Gillette Castle State Park, as public transportation does not directly reach the park. The taxi fare could range from $15 to $25.

• Bicycle

  For the adventurous, cycling to Gillette Castle State Park is another option. You can use the CT Greenway trails and local roads. Start from the town of Haddam and follow the scenic routes leading to River Road. Make sure to check local trail maps and be aware of traffic as some roads may not have bike lanes. It's about a 9-mile ride from Haddam, and you may need to bring your own bike lock for security at the park.
