From Gillette Castle State Park, exit the park and head southwest on CT-82 W. Continue for about 3.2 miles until you reach the intersection with River Road. Turn left onto River Road (CT-149). After about 1.5 miles, you will arrive at Chapman Pond Preserve located at 187 River Rd, East Haddam, CT 06423. There is no entrance fee to access the preserve.

From Gillette Castle State Park, take a taxi or rideshare service to the nearest public transportation hub, which is the East Haddam Town Center. From there, you can catch a local bus (check the schedule for routes to East Haddam) that will take you toward River Road. Make sure to notify the bus driver that you want to get off at the stop closest to 187 River Rd, as it is a short walk from the bus stop to the preserve.
