    From the New Haven Green, head northeast on Elm Street towards Temple Street. Turn right onto Temple Street, then turn left onto Whitney Avenue. The New Haven Museum will be on your left, a short walk from the city center. Walking is free.

    The CT Transit J Bus runs along Whitney Avenue. Check the CT Transit website for the most up-to-date schedules and route information. A single ride is $1.75.

  • Car

    From I-91 North or South, take Exit 3 for Trumbull Street. At the end of the ramp, stay in the center lane and proceed straight through the first traffic light. At the next traffic light, turn right onto Whitney Avenue. The New Haven Museum will be immediately on your left. There is limited parking in the rear of the building. Metered street parking is also available on Whitney Avenue and surrounding streets; rates vary by location. You can pay using coins, the Parkmobile app, or credit/debit cards. Several parking garages are also located nearby, including the LAZ lot at 161 York Street and the LAZ garage at 150 York Street, with hourly rates around $2.00.
