Getting There

  • Bus

    To reach Sleeping Giant State Park from downtown Hartford, start by walking to the nearest bus stop and take the CTtransit bus # 54 towards New Haven. Get off at the stop at 'Whitney Ave and Mt Carmel Ave'. From there, walk north along Mt Carmel Ave for about 1 mile until you reach the entrance of Sleeping Giant State Park at 200 Mt Carmel Ave. The park entrance will be on your left.

  • Bike

    If you prefer to bike, you can rent a bike from a local rental shop in Hartford. Head southeast on Main St, then take a right onto State St. Continue straight until you reach the Farmington Canal Heritage Trail. Follow the trail south towards Hamden. The trail will lead you directly to the vicinity of Sleeping Giant State Park. Once you reach Mt Carmel Ave, head north for about half a mile to reach the park entrance at 200 Mt Carmel Ave.

  • Walking

    If you're feeling adventurous and want to walk, start from Hartford's downtown area. Walk south on Main St towards the Connecticut River, then turn left onto State St. Continue walking until you reach the intersection with Whitney Ave. From there, head south on Whitney Ave, which will eventually turn into Mt Carmel Ave. Keep walking for about 2.5 miles, and you will find Sleeping Giant State Park on your left at 200 Mt Carmel Ave.
