Driving
To reach Mohawk Overlook by car, start from the center of Litchfield and head north on Route 63. Turn onto Route 4 west and continue for approximately 4 miles to the entrance of Mohawk State Forest on the left. Follow the paved road, Toomey Road, to the summit and Mohawk Overlook. Parking is available at the end of Toomey Road. Note that the gates on Toomey Road are typically open from April to November, but close during the winter months depending on snowfall and mud season.
Walking
For those who prefer to walk from the main lodge of Mohawk Mountain Ski Area, head east on Mohawk Mountain Road for about 0.5 miles. At the intersection with Route 4, carefully cross the road and continue straight. You will then turn left onto Toomey Road and walk for about 1 mile. The walk will take approximately 30 minutes. Please be cautious of traffic along the way, as Toomey Road is not always pedestrian-friendly.
