Discover more about Lenz Winery

Lenz Winery, a family-owned estate since 1978, stands as a testament to Long Island's thriving wine culture. Located in the heart of the North Fork in Peconic, the winery boasts some of the region's most mature vineyards, spread across 70 acres. Peter and Deborah Carroll purchased the winery in 1988, a decade after its founding, when the Long Island wine community was just beginning. Lenz is known for crafting exceptional wines from classic varietals such as Chardonnay, Merlot, and Cabernet Sauvignon. The winery focuses on hand-harvesting and minimal intervention to preserve the true character of each grape. This dedication results in rich, complex, food-friendly wines that improve with age. Winemaker Eric Fry, who joined Lenz in 1989 and retired after 30 years, instilled a philosophy of showcasing the inherent qualities of each grape varietal. Visitors can enjoy tastings in the winery's rustic tasting room, originally a potato barn, or in the courtyard. The knowledgeable staff provides a memorable experience, guiding guests through Lenz's exquisite selections. The winery also hosts various events throughout the year, including barrel tastings, vineyard tours, and live music on weekends. Lenz is also known for its sparkling wine made using méthode champenoise.
