    Discover more about Wagner Cove

Wagner Cove, nestled on the southern edge of The Lake in Central Park, is a picturesque and secluded spot offering a tranquil escape from the city's hustle. Once a bustling boat landing in the late 1800s, it has evolved into a cherished location for intimate weddings, proposals, and quiet contemplation. Originally known as the Cherry Hill Boat Landing, it was later renamed in honor of Robert F. Wagner Jr., a former New York City mayor. In its early days, Wagner Cove served as one of six boat landings around The Lake, where a passenger boat would transport visitors between the landings and Bethesda Terrace. The original wooden structures, however, deteriorated over time and were mostly removed in the 20th century. In 2016, the Central Park Conservancy meticulously reconstructed five of these landings, including Wagner Cove, using historical drawings and photographs to ensure authenticity. Today, Wagner Cove features a rustic wooden shelter with two quaint benches, inviting visitors to relax and soak in the surrounding natural beauty. The cove is surrounded by lush greenery, trees, and slate rocks, creating a sense of seclusion and privacy. Wagner Cove is easily accessible from the park's West 72nd Street entrance, making it a convenient escape for those seeking a moment of peace. Its intimate setting and stunning views make it a popular spot for romantic picnics, quiet moments of solitude, and, of course, weddings.
