Getting There

    Start from the Avarua township center, located around the Avarua Market. Head east along the main road, either taking the Avatiu Main Road or the road along the waterfront. Walk towards the east coast of Rarotonga. Continue straight until you reach the intersection at Avatiu. Turn left onto the road that leads to the coast. Follow this road until you see signs for Matai Beach, which is located along the coastal area and is easily accessible from the path.

    Rent a bicycle from one of the many rental shops in Avarua. Start at the Avarua Market and head east along the main road. Ride towards the Avatiu area, following the coastal road.
