Fish become temporarily trapped, offering a unique snorkeling experience. The beach also holds historical significance as the site of a battle between Atiu warriors and Tahitian invaders. Two marae at Takauroa Landing mark the burial sites of warriors who defended the island. While the beach has few amenities, bathroom access is available.
