Be aware of the narrow roads and the local driving customs.

To reach Te Rua Manga using public transport, take the Rarotonga Public Bus, which runs in a circular route around the island. Board the bus heading towards the southern part of the island. Ask the driver to drop you off at the nearest stop to Te Rua Manga, typically around Avarua. From the bus stop, it is about a 15-minute walk to the trailhead. Follow the signs toward the trail; the path is marked and leads directly to the entrance.

If you are already in the Avarua area, you can walk to the Te Rua Manga trailhead. From the center of Avarua, head south on Ara Tapu road. After approximately 20-30 minutes, you’ll see signs indicating the trail entrance to Te Rua Manga on your left. Be prepared for a steep climb once you begin the hike, and ensure you have proper footwear and plenty of water.
