  If you're driving from Puerto Viejo, head northwest on Route 36 toward Route 32. Continue on Route 32 for about 1.5 hours until you reach Route 4. Merge onto Route 4 and follow the signs towards Liberia. After about 2 hours, you'll reach the intersection with Route 21. Turn right onto Route 21 and follow it toward Playas del Coco.
