From downtown La Fortuna, the waterfall is about a 10-minute drive. Head southwest on the main road, and follow signs for Catarata La Fortuna. The road is paved and does not require a 4x4 vehicle. There is a free parking lot at the entrance. Parking can be limited, especially during peak hours, so arrive early. From the parking lot, it's a short walk to the entrance where you purchase your ticket.

Taxis and Ubers are readily available in La Fortuna. A taxi ride from downtown La Fortuna to the waterfall costs around $10 USD. Confirm the price with the driver before starting your journey. Uber may be a cheaper option, but availability can vary. The ride is short, approximately 10 minutes. The taxi will drop you off at the entrance to the waterfall.

The walk from downtown La Fortuna to La Fortuna Waterfall is approximately 5.5km. While walkable, it is a considerable distance, especially in the heat and humidity. There are no sidewalks for the majority of the route. Follow the main road southwest, keeping an eye out for traffic. Once you arrive at the entrance, you will need to pay the entrance fee.
