Bernabela Ramos Park serves as a focal point in Santa Cruz, Guanacaste, offering a serene environment enriched with cultural significance. The park is named after Antonia Bernabela Ramos Sequeira, a woman deeply rooted in the community's history. She was known for holding prayer gatherings in May at the site where the park now stands and was recognized for the large wooden cross she kept, which served as a gathering point for community members.Until 1920, the area was a communal plaza with a potable water well used by residents for drinking water and washing clothes. Later, it was inaugurated as a cantonal park, and the plaza was moved to what is now known as Plaza de los Mangos. Today, Bernabela Ramos Park features an amphitheater, benches, and sculptures that depict various cultural practices of Santa Cruz. The park can accommodate up to 3,000 people, especially during traditional festivals and cultural events.The park continues to host numerous festivities, including the annual Cultural Week in January, concerts, national holidays, fairs, and exhibitions. Its proximity to the Parroquia Santo Cristo de Esquipulas and the ruins of Antigua Torre adds to its historical and cultural appeal.
