Getting There

  • Bus

    From Liberia, take the direct bus from Terminal de Buses Municipal de Liberia to Hacienda Guachipelin. Buses depart three times a day and the journey takes approximately 40 minutes. From Hacienda Guachipelin, it is a short distance to the Las Pailas entrance of the park. Bus fare is approximately $1–3.

  • Taxi

    From Liberia, a taxi to Rincón de la Vieja National Park takes approximately 37 minutes and costs $40 - $50. This is a direct route to the park entrance.

  • Driving

    From Liberia, drive north towards the Inter-American Highway. Continue 5 km north and turn right towards Curubandé. Follow the road for about 15 km through Curubandé until you reach Hacienda Guachipelin. Pass through the Hacienda Guachipelin property, where you may need to pay a toll of approximately 800 CRC (about $1.50 USD) per person. Continue to the park entrance. Parking is free at the Las Pailas sector.
