Getting There

  • Car

    From Manuel Antonio National Park, start by heading south on the main road (Carr. Pacífica Fernández Oreamuno) towards Osa. Continue driving for about 15 kilometers (approximately 20-25 minutes). You will see signs for Playa Ballena along the way. Once you reach the coordinates 4863+XV2, you will find a parking area nearby. Please note that there may be a small parking fee, typically around 2,000 to 4,000 CRC (Costa Rican Colón).

    If you prefer public transport, you can take a bus from the Manuel Antonio area to the town of Uvita. Buses run frequently throughout the day. Check with local bus schedules, but typically you can catch a bus from the main road near Manuel Antonio. The fare to Uvita usually costs around 1,500 CRC. Once in Uvita, you will need to take a taxi or walk approximately 5 kilometers to Playa Ballena, which may take about an hour on foot or around 10 minutes by taxi.
