Best thing we did in tamarindo!

We had so much fun at our surf lesson! We followed the directions to the coordinates listed & the instructors grabbed surf boards out of the back of their truck & started our lesson! They were young, fun tamarindo locals & we enjoyed chatting with them & shared lots of laughs :) We started on the sand with some basics, then hit the water! They had someone to watch our belongings which provided an extra sense of security. By the end of the lesson, all 3 of us who had never surfed before had caught 10+ waves! Instructors were supportive, patient, encouraging, & so much fun. Could not recommend this experience more! We will remember our first surf forever! There was also a photographer (not affiliated) that captured some pictures of us on the beach!

Our family absolutely loves Yazdany Castro and his surf company! All three of my kids have taken lessons with him over the years, and now they won’t use anyone else. Yazdany and his team are incredible with all ages and skill levels — patient, encouraging, and genuinely passionate about helping everyone feel confident in the water. Whether it's a first lesson or brushing up on skills, he always makes it fun, safe, and memorable. We can’t recommend him highly enough!

Our surf trip with Uvita Surf Camp was next level! 🏄‍♂️ Super easy booking – Gabriel, our instructor with 20 years of experience, even volunteered to pick us up! Total legend. 🏄‍♀️ Three private lessons as a couple – Before every session, we set clear goals, which made a huge difference in how fast we improved. 🏄‍♂️ Top-tier coaching – Gabriel was always checking in, making sure we felt confident and safe in the ocean. 🏄‍♀️ Fast progress – In just three days, we went from total beginners to catching waves like pros (almost 😆). 🏄‍♂️ Two coaches, not one! – Gabriel’s mindful, warm, and super professional assistant (with five years of experience and fluent Spanish) helped us the whole way. 🏄‍♀️ More personal attention – Most surf schools have one coach for 3-4+ students, but here, we got all the focus, which helped us learn way faster. 🌊 Beyond the waves – Gabriel even invited us for lunch, showing us a bit of local culture. Such a cool touch! 🚨 Don’t go for a “McDonald’s” surf school just to save a few bucks!
