If you're driving, start your journey on the Inter-American Highway (Route 1). From San José, head northwest for about 4 hours until you reach the town of Huacas. Take the exit for Route 180 towards Playa Conchal. Continue on Route 180, passing through the towns of Matapalo and Brasilito. After approximately 20 km, you will reach the junction for Route 21. Turn left onto Route 21 and follow the signs towards Carrillo and Samara. About 10 km down the road, look for signs indicating Playa Barrigona. The entrance is marked, and you may need to travel on a dirt road for about 3 km to reach the beach parking area. Be aware that the road can be rough, so a 4x4 vehicle is recommended.
