Bicycle
From central Tamarindo, rent a bicycle from one of the local shops. Head southeast on the main road (Av. de las Palmas). Continue straight for about 5 kilometers until you reach the intersection with Route 155. Turn left onto Route 155 and follow the road for approximately 2 kilometers. Look for signs to Playa Avellana; take the right turn onto a dirt road that leads directly to the beach entrance.

Walking
If you prefer walking, head out from the center of Tamarindo towards the beach. Walk south along the beach to Playa Langosta, then head inland to join Route 155. Follow Route 155 for about 7 kilometers until you reach the turnoff to Playa Avellana. This route will take you through some beautiful coastal scenery, but be prepared for a long walk!

Taxi or Rideshare
You can easily call a taxi or use a rideshare app from anywhere in Tamarindo. Provide the driver with the destination 'Playa Avellana' and they will take you directly there. The ride typically takes around 15 to 25 minutes depending on traffic. Make sure to confirm the fare before starting your journey.

Catch a bus from the Tamarindo bus station heading towards Santa Cruz. Ask the driver to let you off at the turnoff for Playa Avellana. The bus ride takes about 30 minutes, and you may need to wait for the next bus, which runs infrequently. From the bus stop, it’s about a 15-minute walk down the dirt road to the beach.
