From the southern end of Playa Grande, near the Tamarindo estuary, you can walk along the beach to reach the main surfing areas. The walk takes approximately 1 hour. Be mindful of the sun and bring water. Alternatively, a taxi can be hired for around $20.

If arriving from Tamarindo, take the local bus towards Matapalo. From Matapalo, another bus will take you to Playa Grande. The total journey takes approximately 1 hour and 17 minutes. Check local schedules for accurate departure times, as services are limited.

From Tamarindo, a taxi to Playa Grande is a convenient option, costing approximately $23-$28 and taking around 25 minutes. Taxis are readily available in Tamarindo.

When driving to Playa Grande, use Google Maps or Waze and enter 'Hotel Las Tortugas' as your destination to reach the main parking lot. From the Daniel Oduber Quiros International Airport (LIR) in Liberia, the drive is approximately one hour. Parking at the main entrance costs around 2500 CRC. Be aware that the parking lot can get crowded on weekends.
