Bingerville Botanical Garden: A Green Escape

The Bingerville Botanical Garden, located approximately 18 km east of Abidjan, offers a serene escape into nature. Established in 1904, the garden has a rich history, initially serving as the private garden of the French Governor, Gabriel Angoulvant. It later evolved into a research and preservation center for tropical plants. Today, the garden is managed by the University of Abidjan and welcomes visitors from around the globe. The garden spans 56 hectares and showcases a diverse collection of plant species from tropical Africa, Asia, America, and Australia. Visitors can explore various sections, including bamboo groves, palm groves, cheese gardens, and areas dedicated to fruit trees, woodworking species, and medicinal plants. The garden also features an Orchid and Fern Garden and a Rose Garden. Beyond its botanical diversity, the garden provides a tranquil atmosphere for relaxation and recreation. Nature trails wind through the grounds, offering opportunities for leisurely walks and exploration. Ponds and waterfalls add to the serene ambiance.
