The Church of St. Krsevan (Crkva Svetog Krševana) stands as a testament to Šibenik's rich history and architectural evolution. Located in the heart of the Old Town on Don Krste Stošića Street, this sacral monument dates back to the 12th century, making it the oldest preserved church in Šibenik.Originally constructed in the Romanesque style, the church's design featured rounded arches and solid stone construction. In the 15th century, significant Gothic modifications were made, including the addition of pointed arches and ribbed vaulting. A western staircase, constructed in 1439 by Venetian master Antonio Bussat, was later removed in the mid-19th century, though its lintel remains visible.Throughout its history, the Church of St. Krsevan was associated with the Fraternity of St. Anthony the Abbot and served as a pilgrimage site until World War II. Heavily damaged during the war, it was later repurposed as the Gallery of St. Krševan, an art exhibition space managed by the Šibenik City Museum.Today, visitors can admire Croatia's oldest bell, dating back to 1266, displayed on a low pedestal on the southern wall. The church's location in the pedestrian-only Old Town, surrounded by cobblestone alleys and stone buildings, adds to its medieval charm.
