Getting there

Walking

The Old Town Hall is located on Narodni trg in Split's Old Town, easily accessible by foot from most central locations. From the Riva (waterfront promenade), walk inland towards Diocletian's Palace. Pass through the palace and exit through the Silver Gate (Srebrna vrata). Continue straight ahead to Narodni trg. The Old Town Hall will be on your left.

Public Transport

If arriving by bus or train at the main station, walk west along the Riva (waterfront promenade) towards Diocletian's Palace. Follow the walking directions from the Riva. Local buses run frequently in Split, but the Old Town Hall is best reached on foot due to its central location. A single bus fare within the city costs around 1.50 EUR.

Taxi

Taxis are readily available in Split. A short taxi ride from the main bus or train station to Narodni trg will cost approximately 8-12 EUR, depending on traffic. Be sure the driver uses the meter.

The Old Town Hall, or *Stara gradska vijećnica* in Croatian, stands proudly on Narodni trg, a vibrant square in the heart of Split. Constructed in 1443, the building exemplifies a unique blend of Gothic and Renaissance architectural styles. Originally, the Old Town Hall was part of a larger municipal complex, but it is the only structure that remains today.Throughout its history, the Old Town Hall has served various purposes. During the Middle Ages, it was the center of Split's government. From 1910 to 2005, it housed the Ethnographic Museum. Today, the Old Town Hall serves as an exhibition space and gallery, hosting art shows and cultural events. The hall underwent renovations in 1890 and again in 2020-2021, which improved accessibility.Narodni trg, where the Old Town Hall is located, is a lively hub filled with cafes, shops, and street performers. The square provides a social gathering place for locals and tourists alike. The Old Town Hall is near other historical landmarks, including Diocletian's Palace, the Iron Gate, and the City Clock.
