Getting There

  • Ferry

    The most common way to reach Stari Grad is by taking the Jadrolinija ferry from Split. The ferry journey takes approximately 2 hours. In high season, there are up to 7 daily departures. Ticket prices for foot passengers range from €5.71 to €8.10. A car ferry ticket (less than 5 meters in length and 2 meters in height) is approximately €45.77. From the Stari Grad ferry port, you can walk 20-25 minutes to the town center or take a short taxi ride.

  • Bus

    If you are already on Hvar Island, frequent buses connect Hvar Town to Stari Grad. The bus departs from Hvar bus station, near St Stephens Cathedral. The bus arrives at Stari Grad bus station, a short walk to the old town. The trip takes around 30 minutes. Bus tickets cost approximately €3.50 - €6 per trip, payable in cash on the bus. Taxis are also available but are more expensive, costing around €30-€35.

  • Walking

    From the Stari Grad ferry terminal, it's a pleasant 20-25 minute walk to the town center. Follow the Riva (waterfront promenade). Taxis are readily available at the ferry port if you prefer not to walk.
