Getting There

Bus
From Opatija, head to the main bus station located at Trg M. Tita 1, Opatija. Purchase a ticket for a bus heading to Cerknica, which is operated by local carriers. The journey will take approximately 1.5-2 hours. Once you arrive at the Cerknica bus station, exit the station and follow the signs towards the town center. Lake Cerknica is about a 20-minute walk from the bus station. Just head straight down the main road (Cesta 1. maja) until you reach the lake.

Take a train from Opatija to the nearest larger town, Rijeka, which is about a 30-minute journey. From Rijeka, go to the main bus station located near the train station. Look for a bus that goes to Cerknica. The bus ride should take around 1 hour. Upon arrival at the Cerknica bus station, exit and walk towards the lake by following Cesta 1. maja for about 20 minutes.
