Discover more about Mala Paklenica - nacionalni park

Mala Paklenica Canyon distinguishes itself with its 'wilderness' and largely untouched nature. Significantly smaller than Velika Paklenica, the canyon features a stream that is much smaller, often drying up in the summer months. The stream is permanent only in its upper flow, becoming an occasional torrent in the lower sections, generally present during winter. The canyon stretches 12.5 km from its source to the sea, with its narrowest point being only 10 meters wide, flanked by cliffs reaching up to 300 meters. Hiking through Mala Paklenica is considered more challenging, requiring hikers to sometimes navigate through dense underbrush. The trails are not as well-maintained or clearly marked as those in Velika Paklenica, demanding experience and a good map. Due to the canyon's commitment to preserving endangered bird species and its overall wilderness, rock climbing is prohibited. The entrance to Mala Paklenica is open from late April to the end of October, catering to experienced hikers ready for a demanding adventure. While less frequented, Mala Paklenica provides a unique opportunity to experience the raw beauty of Paklenica National Park, offering a tranquil escape into a dramatic and preserved natural setting.
