Osijek Zoo: A Drava River Wildlife Haven

The Osijek Zoo, one of Croatia's oldest and most significant zoological gardens, began as a modest collection of local fauna in 1955. Today, it has grown into a premier destination for animal lovers and families, boasting the largest open space for animals in Croatia. Situated on the left bank of the Drava River, the zoo provides a natural and scenic environment for both animals and visitors.The zoo is home to over 650 animals, representing around 80 different species, including mammals, birds, reptiles, and amphibians. Exhibits are designed to mimic natural habitats, providing comfortable and stimulating environments for the animals. Visitors can observe a diverse array of creatures, from native to exotic, including lions, giraffes, primates and a variety of bird species. The zoo also features an aquarium and terrarium with around 20 species.Education and conservation are central to the zoo's mission, with various programs for schools, families, and the public.
