Founded in 1152 by monk Ignatios, who discovered a miraculous icon of the Virgin Mary, the monastery is dedicated to 'Our Lady of the Golden Pomegranate'. The present structure dates back to 1770 and houses a rich collection of religious artifacts, including holy books and icons, some believed to be painted by Apostle Luke. Visitors can explore the Icons and Utensil Treasury (upon request) and admire the fine frescoes adorning the entrances. The monastery's winery produces excellent vintage wines, adding a unique local flavor to the experience. Celebrations are held every August 15 for the Dormition of the Mother of God, drawing pilgrims and visitors alike. With its tranquil atmosphere and stunning views, Chrysoroyiatissa Monastery provides a harmonious blend of spirituality, history, and natural beauty.

From Paphos, take the Line 637 bus from Karavella Bus Station towards Pano Panagia. The bus departs approximately every four hours, and the journey to the village takes about 45 minutes. From Pano Panagia, you can either walk approximately 3 km uphill to the monastery or take a taxi. A taxi from Pano Panagia to the monastery should cost around €10-€15. The bus ticket costs €2.

From Paphos, head east on the E703 road towards Pano Panagia. The drive is approximately 35 km and takes around 40 minutes. Follow the signs directing you to Pano Panagia and then to Chrysoroyiatissa Monastery. There is a free parking area available near the monastery.
