Getting There

  • Walking

    From the center of Pano Platres, follow the signs towards Kalidonia Waterfall. The walk is approximately 2km and mostly uphill, taking around 30-40 minutes. The path leads along a quiet road before turning onto the marked trail at the Psilo Dendro trout farm. From there, follow the trail markers to the waterfall. Be prepared for some uneven terrain. There are no entrance fees or tolls to access the waterfall or trail.

  • Public Transport

    From Limassol, take bus line 64 to Pano Platres. The journey takes approximately 1.5 hours and costs €2. Once in Pano Platres, you can walk to the waterfall. Alternatively, take a taxi from the village center to the trailhead for approximately €10-€15. From the drop-off point, follow the marked trail for about 1km to reach the waterfall.

  • Taxi/Ride-Share

    From Pano Platres, a taxi to the trailhead near Psilo Dendro trout farm will cost approximately €10-€15. The ride is short, about 5-10 minutes. Ensure the driver knows you want to go to the Kalidonia Waterfall trail entrance. From the drop-off point, follow the marked trail for about 1km to reach the waterfall.

Located approximately 2 kilometers north of Pano Platres village in the Troodos Mountains, it's a favorite destination for locals and tourists seeking a refreshing escape into nature.The journey to the waterfall is just as enchanting as the destination itself. The Kalidonia Trail, a 3-kilometer path, winds through lush forests alongside the Kryos Potamos River, which flows year-round. The trail offers beautiful views and a chance to see local flora and fauna.The waterfall was named by Scottish visitors who were reminded of their homeland in 1878, who christened it 'Caledonia,' the ancient Latin name for Scotland. The waterfall creates an ideal atmosphere of coolness and romanticism.The trail is moderately challenging, with some rocky and uneven terrain. Proper footwear is recommended, and hikers should be prepared for some uphill sections. The path includes river crossings above wet rocks, therefore there is a high risk of slipping. The most suitable period for the trail is March to November.
