Kyrenia Port: A Picturesque Harbor Experience
Your arrival point for exploring the historic harbor town of Kyrenia and the scenic wonders of Northern Cyprus.
Kyrenia Ferry Terminal serves as a vital link between Northern Cyprus and Turkey, offering passenger and vehicle transport. Located east of Kyrenia's historic harbor, it provides access to the city's attractions and the broader region.
Opening times, essentials, and a few local tips gathered into one calmer, easier-to-scan planning section.
Walking
From Kyrenia Ferry Terminal, the historic Kyrenia Harbour is approximately a 20-30 minute walk. Exit the terminal and follow the main road west towards the city center. Continue along the coastal road, passing various shops and restaurants. The harbor and Kyrenia Castle will become visible on your left. Note that the sidewalks may be uneven in places.
Public Transport
The 'dolmuş' (shared minibus) is a common mode of transport in Kyrenia. After exiting the ferry terminal, walk to the main road and flag down a dolmuş heading towards Kyrenia city center. These minibuses are white with their destinations displayed in the window. A short trip to the harbor area should cost approximately 2.50-5 TL. Payment is made to the driver when you get off.
Taxi
Taxis are readily available outside the Kyrenia Ferry Terminal. Agree on a fare with the driver before starting your journey, as taxis in Northern Cyprus typically do not use meters. A ride to Kyrenia Harbour should cost approximately 40-65 TL, depending on traffic and time of day.
