Getting there

Car

From Kyrenia town center, head east on Atatürk Boulevard. Follow the signs for the Ercan Airport road (Dörtyol) and continue for about 6 km. Look for the signs leading to St. Hilarion Castle. The castle is located approximately 10 km from Kyrenia and is situated on a hilltop, making it visible from the surrounding area. There is a parking area near the castle entrance, and parking is typically free.

Public Transportation

Take a minibus (dolmuş) from Kyrenia to the village of Bellapais. The dolmuş leaves from the bus station in Kyrenia. Once you arrive in Bellapais, you will need to take a taxi to St. Hilarion Castle, as the castle is located about 5 km away from Bellapais. Taxi fares may vary, but expect to pay around 10-15 Turkish Lira (TL). Ensure you negotiate the fare before starting your journey.

Walking

If you are already in the Bellapais area, you can choose to walk to St. Hilarion Castle. The walk is about 5 km uphill and can take approximately 1.5 to 2 hours. Follow the road signs towards the castle, but be prepared for a steep hike. Ensure you wear comfortable shoes and carry water, especially during warmer months.
