Located a short distance from Nicosia's historic heart, the A. G. Leventis Gallery is a cultural institution in Cyprus, presenting an extensive collection of European, Greek, and Cypriot art to the public. The gallery embodies the vision of Anastasios G. Leventis, who wished to establish a public space to display his private collection.The gallery's collection is divided into three main units: the Paris Collection, featuring European artists from the 17th to 20th centuries; the Greek Collection, showcasing 19th- and 20th-century Greek artists; and the Cyprus Collection, which preserves the works of the first generation of Cypriot artists. Visitors can admire works by Canaletto, Renoir, Monet and Chagall. The Cyprus Collection focuses on works by artists born between 1884 and 1930.The building itself was designed to minimize energy use, incorporating features like enhanced insulation and daylighting. The gallery also aims to connect Cyprus with the broader European continent through art.
