The Cyprus Folk Art Museum, located in the heart of Nicosia, offers an immersive journey into the island's rich cultural past. Founded in 1937 by the Society of Cypriot Studies, the museum is housed within the historic Old Archbishopric Palace, a building dating back to the 15th century with Gothic and earlier architectural elements.The museum's extensive collection features over 5,000 items, showcasing Cypriot folk art from the 19th and early 20th centuries. Visitors can admire examples of weaving, pottery, embroidery, lace, costumes, metalwork, woodcarving, basketry, leatherwork, and naïve painting. Agricultural and weaving tools are also on display, providing insight into traditional Cypriot life.The building itself has a rich history, having served as a Benedictine monastery in the 13th century and later as the Archbishop's Palace. A notable feature is the richly decorated Gothic arch with a 16th-century fresco of the Annunciation.
