The Fikardou Rural Museum, comprising the Houses of Katsinioros and Achilleas Dimitri, is located in the village of Fikardou, approximately 40 kilometers southwest of Nicosia, on the southeastern slopes of the Troodos Mountains. The village itself, once deserted in the early 19th century, has been meticulously restored to preserve its 18th-century houses, showcasing remarkable woodwork and folk architecture. In 1978, the Department of Antiquities declared Fikardou an Ancient Monument, and in 1987, it was awarded the Europa Nostra prize for its preservation efforts.The House of Katsinioros, named after its last owner, is a two-story stone manor with a steep wooden roof, exhibiting architectural features dating back to the 16th century. The upper floor served as the living quarters, furnished to reflect the everyday life of a rural family, while the ground floor was dedicated to grape pressing, wine storage, and agricultural tools. The House of Achilleas Dimitri has been transformed into a weaver's workshop and a guest house for scholars, adding another layer to the village's cultural significance.Visitors can explore the furnished living quarters and the displays of agricultural tools and utensils, providing a glimpse into the activities of the villagers.
