Episkopi Environmental Information Centre: Discovering Cyprus's Natural Heritage

Located in the Paphos region of Cyprus, the Episkopi Environmental Information Centre (EPEIC) serves as a hub for environmental education and awareness. This center acts as a museum, nature preserve, and tourist information point, offering visitors insights into the natural wonders of Cyprus. The EPEIC is situated within the village of Episkopi, along the main road connecting it to Paphos, approximately 11 km from the entrance of Paphos. The center's exhibits focus on the geology, flora, and fauna of the Ezousa Valley, one of the island's most scenic areas. High-quality photographic materials, touch screens, dioramas, and collections bring the region's ecological richness to life. Visitors can explore the botanical garden, which features thematic groupings of significant plants from the area, including habitats, endemics, bulbs, and rare plants. The center also houses a laboratory with microscopes and computers for students and researchers. A screening room shows a film about the Ezousa valley environment. The Ezousa Valley itself is a highlight, known for its ecological value and inclusion in the NATURA 2000 network of protected areas. The village of Episkopi preserves traditional architecture and is built around the largest monolith in Cyprus.
