Pafos Zoo: A Wildlife Oasis in Cyprus

Pafos Zoo, nestled in Peyia near Paphos, Cyprus, is more than just a zoo; it's a dedicated wildlife reserve committed to animal care and conservation. Founded by Mr. Christos Christoforou, initially to house his extensive bird collection, the zoo opened to the public in September 2003 and has since become one of the island's leading attractions. The zoo spans over 100,000 square meters, providing a natural and lush environment for its inhabitants. Visitors can explore a diverse range of animals, including giraffes, monkeys, meerkats, crocodiles, kangaroos, and more. The zoo is particularly renowned for its impressive collection of parrots and venomous snakes, one of the largest in Europe. Bird enthusiasts will be captivated by the vast array of species, with approximately 45% of the collection being threatened or near-threatened in the wild. Pafos Zoo offers more than just animal viewing; it provides interactive experiences such as animal encounters, a parrot and owl show, and feeding sessions. For a more hands-on experience, visitors can participate in animal interactions like the Elephant Experience, Giraffe Feeding, or the Walk-In Lemur Enclosure. From November to March, it's open from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM; April to July and September to October, from 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM; and in August, from 9:00 AM to 7:00 PM. Admission prices are approximately €19.50 for adults and €12.50 for children (ages 3-15), with discounts available for seniors and disabled visitors. Children under 3 years old can enter for free.
