Discover more about Lighthouse

Located on Paphos Point, the Paphos Lighthouse is a significant landmark within the Kato Paphos Archaeological Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Constructed in 1888 by the British, it served as a crucial navigational aid for ships traveling through the Suez Canal to British colonies. The lighthouse acted as a landfall marker for vessels headed to Paphos Harbour. The lighthouse is a 20-meter-high whitewashed masonry tower with a single gallery and lantern. The compound includes the keeper's house and accessory buildings. The light, with a focal height of 36 meters above sea level, emits a white flash every fifteen seconds, visible from 17 nautical miles. Today, the lighthouse operates with an automated system powered by solar energy. While the interior is not accessible to the public, visitors can explore the surrounding area, enjoy the coastal paths, and take in the panoramic views. The lighthouse is particularly beautiful at sunset. The site is part of the larger archaeological park, which includes ancient ruins, mosaics, and other historical landmarks.
