Discover more about Mesa Potamos Falls

Mesa Potamos Falls, also known as Mesapotamos, is a hidden gem located in the Limassol District of Cyprus, within the Troodos mountain range. The name “Mesa Potamos” means 'Middle River' in Greek, referencing its position among the network of streams and rivers crisscrossing the Troodos slopes. Tucked away in the verdant folds of the Troodos Mountains, this natural sanctuary remains blissfully untouched by mass tourism. The waterfall itself is approximately 7 meters (23 feet) high. The water tumbles over a dark, moss-covered rock wall into a shallow, cool pool, creating a scene worthy of a fairytale. The surrounding vegetation is lush and vibrant, with towering pine trees, golden oaks, and plane trees creating a tapestry of colors and textures. The short trail to Mesa Potamos Falls begins near the Mesa Potamos picnic area and is about 200 meters long. The path meanders through a pine and oak forest, with fresh scents of wild herbs and the gentle rustle of leaves underfoot. The trail is mostly downhill and can get pretty steep in some places. Along the way, you'll pass by smaller waterfalls and scenery that's definitely worth seeing. Spring and early summer (March to June) are arguably the best times to visit Mesa Potamos. The waterfall flows most vigorously during these months thanks to snowmelt from the surrounding mountains. Autumn (September–November) is another great option, offering golden foliage and fewer crowds.
