    Walking

    From anywhere in modern Kakopetria, the Old Village is easily accessible on foot. Follow the main road towards the western side of the village, keeping an eye out for signs pointing to 'Palia Kakopetria'. The walk involves a gentle incline and takes approximately 10-15 minutes from the center of the new village. No costs are involved.

    Public Transport

    If arriving by bus from Nicosia or Troodos, disembark at Kakopetria Square 2. From there, follow the walking directions to Palia Kakopetria. The bus from Nicosia costs approximately €3-€5. There are no additional costs to reach the Old Village from the bus stop.

    Parking

    If driving, parking is available in designated areas in the new part of Kakopetria. From the parking areas, follow the walking directions to Palia Kakopetria. Parking is generally free in public lots. Some hotels offer parking for guests.

Located on the west side of Kakopetria, it's nestled between the Karkotis and Garillis rivers. The architecture is a highlight, with houses built close together, many featuring two stories, sloping tiled roofs, and wooden balconies. These homes are primarily constructed from local stone. Historically, the ground floor served as a warehouse for storing wine and food, and sometimes as animal enclosures, while families lived on the upper floor. Declared a protected cultural heritage site, Palia Kakopetria offers visitors a chance to wander its narrow, winding streets and experience the charm of a traditional Cypriot village. The village has been carefully restored, with efforts from both residents and governmental services ensuring the preservation of its original character.
