Car
If you are traveling by car, start your journey in the town of Mikulov. Head northwest on the E461 road towards the village of Ostrov u Macochy. Continue straight for approximately 15 kilometers. Once you reach Ostrov u Macochy, look for signs directing you to Balcarka Cave. The cave is located at the address 679 14 Ostrov u Macochy. There is a parking lot available near the cave entrance, but be aware that there may be a small parking fee.
Public Transportation
If you prefer to use public transportation, take a train from Brno to Blansko. Trains run frequently, and the trip should take about 30 minutes. Once you arrive at Blansko station, transfer to a local bus heading towards Ostrov u Macochy. The bus ride will take around 20 minutes. After disembarking at the Ostrov u Macochy stop, follow the signs to Balcarka Cave, which is about a 15-minute walk from the bus stop. Be prepared to check the bus schedule in advance as they may run on limited hours.
Bicycle
For the more adventurous, cycling to Balcarka Cave is a great option. You can rent a bicycle in Mikulov or Blansko. From Mikulov, take the E461 road northwest towards Ostrov u Macochy. The route is approximately 15 kilometers and mostly flat, making it suitable for all skill levels. Ensure you have a map or GPS device to help navigate. Upon reaching Ostrov u Macochy, follow the signs to the cave. Bring water and snacks for the ride, and be cautious of traffic on the main road.
