Discover more about National Gallery Prague – Trade Fair Palace

The Trade Fair Palace (Veletržní palác) is a significant architectural and cultural landmark in Prague's Holešovice district. Built between 1925 and 1928, it was designed by architects Josef Fuchs and Oldřich Tyl and was initially intended to host trade fairs. At the time of its completion, it was the largest functionalist building in the world. After serving various purposes, including housing foreign trade companies, the building suffered a devastating fire in 1974. In 1976, it was decided to renovate the building, and it slowly progressed until the 1990s. In 1976, the Trade Fair Palace became part of the National Gallery Prague and now displays modern and contemporary art. The gallery's collection includes an array of Czech and Slovak paintings and sculptures, featuring artists such as Alfons Mucha, František Kupka and Otto Gutfreund. Visitors can explore art and architecture from the 19th, 20th, and 21st centuries. The Trade Fair Palace is also home to temporary exhibitions and events.
