Nestled near the charming town of Český Krumlov, Rozhledna Granátník is a 5-meter-tall wooden observation tower that provides visitors with stunning views of the South Bohemian countryside. The tower was constructed in 2002 and officially opened on June 5, 2003, as part of the Environment Day celebrations. The project was a collaborative effort between Lesy ČR (Forests of the Czech Republic), the Český Krumlov forest administration, and the Blanský les Protected Landscape Area administration. Architect Vojtěch Storm designed the tower. Climbing the 24 steep steps to the viewing platform rewards visitors with a north-easterly panorama, including Hluboká nad Vltavou, České Budějovice, and the Novohradské Mountains. A helpful panel on the observation deck identifies visible landmarks. At the foot of the tower, a covered rest area provides shelter. The tower is part of the Granátník educational trail. Rozhledna Granátník is freely accessible year-round. The surrounding area offers well-maintained paths suitable for families, strollers, and bicycles, making it an ideal destination for a relaxing day outdoors. The tower and its surroundings provide opportunities for hiking, birdwatching, and connecting with nature.
