Getting There

  • Public Transport

    From Hodonín train station, take bus line 901 (weekdays) or 904 (weekends) towards Bažantnice. Get off at the 'Bažantnice – Cihelna' stop. Walk approximately 50 meters in the bus's direction, then turn right and continue straight past the garages, sports hall, and Lipovka school. Follow the asphalt path, passing the parking lot on your left, to reach the zoo's entrance. The walk from the bus stop is about 800 meters and takes approximately 15 minutes. A single bus fare within Hodonín costs around 20 CZK.

  • Walking

    From Hodonín city center or the main train station, the zoo is approximately a 35-minute walk (1.8 kilometers). Head northwest, following signs for Bažantnice. Use the underpass to cross towards Bažantnice and continue following the signs. The route leads through a residential area and towards the edge of Hodonínská Dúbrava forest. No costs are associated with walking.

  • Car

    Hodonín Zoo is located on the northwestern outskirts of Hodonín, in the Bažantnice district, near road I/55 (Břeclav – Uherské Hradiště). A free parking lot is available about 200 meters from the zoo entrance on K Hájence street, behind the Lipovka school. Parking directly in front of the zoo entrance is prohibited unless a parking pass has been issued. There are no tolls on the immediate approach to the zoo. Parking is free.

Hodonín Zoo, established in 1977, has grown from a small local corner to a respected zoological garden, home to around 500 animals representing over 180 species. The zoo is located on the northwestern outskirts of Hodonín in the South Moravian Region of the Czech Republic. Visitors can explore various pavilions and enclosures, including a primate pavilion, an exotic bird pavilion, and an aquarium. The zoo takes pride in its collection of rare animal species, such as chimpanzees, lemurs, and various types of monkeys. The big cat pavilion features Ussuri tigers and South African lions. The marine aquarium displays a blacktip reef shark and other marine animals. Beyond the animals, Hodonín Zoo offers playgrounds, refreshment stands, and a souvenir shop. The zoo also focuses on education, with a dedicated educational center. The zoo has managed to preserve the natural character of the alluvial forest despite the changes. **Please note:** The aquarium pavilion is currently closed due to damage from a tornado, with plans for a new one underway.
