Discover more about Temple of Apollo

Nestled within the UNESCO-listed Lednice-Valtice Cultural Landscape, the Temple of Apollo stands as a testament to the Liechtenstein family's artistic vision. Constructed between 1817 and 1819 by Viennese architect Josef Kornhäusel, this Empire-style manor served as both a pleasure pavilion for the nobility and a scenic lookout. The temple's design pays homage to its namesake, featuring eight Doric columns supporting its facade. The structure is adorned with sculptures by Josef Klieber, including a depiction of Apollo on a solar chariot. A spiral staircase leads to an observation terrace, offering panoramic views of the surrounding landscape, including the nearby Lednice ponds. Binoculars are available on the terrace for visitors to get a closer look at Lednice Castle. Today, the Temple of Apollo is open to visitors during the main season, from May to October, and on weekends during the winter. It provides a tranquil retreat where visitors can explore hiking trails, appreciate the architecture, and immerse themselves in the serene atmosphere.
