    Discover more about chateau Brtnice

Chateau Brtnice, also known as the Brtnice Castle, is a captivating historical site in the heart of the Czech Republic. The chateau's story began as a Gothic castle in the 1430s. In the late 16th century, Hynek Brtnický of Wallenstein commissioned Italian architect Baltazar Maggi de Ronio to transform it into a Renaissance residence. Further adaptations in the late 18th century shaped the chateau into its present form. After 1623, the Italian Collalto family acquired the Brtnice estate and held it until 1945, adding to the architectural grandeur of the residence. They entrusted Giovanni Batista Pieroni with reconstruction, who reformed the interior of the church and built the neighboring monastery. The castle complex showcases a unique blend of architectural styles, from Gothic fortifications to Renaissance and Baroque modifications. The castle grounds include an English-style park established in 1817, offering landscaped gardens and a serene atmosphere. Today, visitors can explore the castle's rich history and admire its well-preserved Renaissance features. Although some areas are currently closed for renovations, the exterior and grounds remain open for exploration. The castle also hosts cultural events and festivals during the summer season, adding to its appeal.
