The Mariánský Morový Sloup, or Marian Plague Column, is located on Masaryk Square in Jihlava. It was erected between 1686 and 1691 to commemorate the city's avoidance of the plague epidemics that ravaged the region in 1679 and 1680. The column serves as a symbol of gratitude and a reminder of the community's faith during challenging times. The column features sculptures by Antonio Laghi and stonemasons Augustin and Jakub Brascha. The main pedestal displays statues of saints including St. Joseph, St. Sebastian, St. Francis Xavier, and St. James the Greater. The column culminates in a statue of the Virgin Mary as the Immaculate Conception (Immaculata), a copy of the original which is housed in the town hall. The statue faces the sloping part of the square. Today, the Mariánský Morový Sloup remains one of Jihlava's most significant landmarks, representing the city's history and cultural heritage. A group of linden trees surrounds the column, a 20th-century addition to the square.
