The City of Lewes African American Heritage Commission is actively researching the history of Johnnie Walker Beach, gathering information through oral histories and newspaper clippings to ensure its story is preserved and shared. There are plans to install an informational kiosk at the beach to educate visitors about Johnnie Walker and the beach's historical importance. Today, Johnnie Walker Beach welcomes visitors of all backgrounds to enjoy its natural beauty. The calm waters are ideal for swimming and paddling, making it a family-friendly destination. The beach also offers amenities such as bathhouses, Mobi-Mats for accessibility, and volleyball nets. It's a place to relax, reflect, and appreciate the ongoing efforts to recognize and celebrate diverse histories.
