Getting There

    From the Cape Henlopen State Park's main visitor center, head east on Cape Henlopen Drive following the designated pedestrian path. The walk is approximately 1.5 miles and takes around 30 minutes. Ensure you wear comfortable shoes and stay hydrated. There is no cost for walking into the beach, but there is a fee to enter the park by vehicle from March 1 to November 30.

    Take the DART First State Bus Route 204 to the Lewes Transit Center. From there, transfer to the DART Route 206, which has a stop at Cape Henlopen State Park. From the park entrance, follow Cape Henlopen Drive for approximately 1.5 miles to reach Johnnie Walker Beach. A one-way bus fare is typically $2.00. Remember to check the bus schedule for accurate timings.

  • Driving

    From Lewes, head east on Cape Henlopen Drive into Cape Henlopen State Park. Follow Cape Henlopen Drive for approximately 1.5 miles; Johnnie Walker Beach will be on your left. From March 1 to November 30, there is a daily entrance fee to the park: $5 for Delaware registered vehicles and $10 for out-of-state vehicles. Metered parking is available at Johnnie Walker Beach from May 1 to September 30, 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Parking fees vary, so check posted signs upon arrival.
