Discover more about Bethany Beach Boardwalk

The Bethany Beach Boardwalk is more than just a wooden walkway; it's a nostalgic journey back to simpler seaside pleasures. Founded in 1901 as a Christian retreat, Bethany Beach has always prioritized a family-friendly atmosphere. The boardwalk, first constructed in 1903, has been rebuilt several times due to the relentless forces of nature, most notably after the devastating storm of 1920. Each rebuild has reinforced its role as the town's social and commercial heart. Today, the boardwalk is lined with a variety of shops selling everything from beach toys and souvenirs to saltwater taffy and ice cream. Casual restaurants offer classic boardwalk fare like fries, pizza, and seafood. The bandstand at the center of the boardwalk hosts free concerts and events throughout the summer, adding to the lively atmosphere. Strolling along the boardwalk, visitors can enjoy stunning views of the Atlantic Ocean. The beach itself is meticulously maintained, providing a clean and safe environment for swimming, sunbathing, and building sandcastles. The boardwalk is a hub of activity from morning until night, with families, couples, and solo travelers all enjoying the relaxed pace and friendly atmosphere. While the boardwalk is relatively short compared to those in neighboring resort towns, its charm lies in its simplicity and unpretentious appeal. It's a place where memories are made, traditions are upheld, and the simple pleasures of a day at the beach are celebrated.
