Lums Pond State Park, surrounding Delaware's largest freshwater pond, offers diverse recreation and natural habitats. Driving
From DE-896, turn onto Howell School Rd. and follow it to the park entrance. Parking is available in designated lots throughout the park. A park entrance fee is charged from March 1 to November 30: $3 for Delaware residents and $6 for out-of-state vehicles. An annual pass can also be purchased for access to all Delaware State Parks.
Public Transport
From Wilmington, take the DART First State Route 40 bus towards Glasgow. The bus ride takes approximately 45 minutes and costs $2-$3. From the bus stop at US Rt 40 @ Op Rickey Blvd, a taxi or rideshare will be needed to cover the remaining distance to Lums Pond State Park. This final leg will cost approximately $10-$25.
Walking
If already within Lums Pond State Park, follow the main park road or marked trails towards your desired area, such as the campground or South Lums Trailhead. Walking from the main visitor center to trailheads within the park may take 10-20 minutes.
